The former NFB headquarters is located directly adjacent to Chemin de la Côte-de-Liesse, which serves as a feeder road to the metropolitain highway (A-40). Access to the site is possible via westbound Chemin de la Côte-de-Liesse, as well as via Houde street, which runs along the western boundary of the property. Most of the study site's neighborhood is enclosed by the Réseau express métropolitain (REM) rail line, the Canadian National (CN) rail line, the Côte-de-Liesse interchange (A-40/A-15/R-117) and the metropolitain highway (A-40).
The site is located at the edge of two residential neighbourhoods of varying densities, and an industrial district that developed along the Metropolitan Expressway in the 1960s. Residential and employment uses (industrial and commercial) have thus coexisted in this sector for over sixty years.
Today, the site is located in an area undergoing rapid change. While several residential and commercial real estate developments are taking shape in the surrounding area (Royal-Mount, Quartier Namur-Hippodrome, Westbury, Marché Central), the planned arrival of the Côte-de-Liesse station of the Réseau Express Métropolitain (REM) will greatly improve the district's connectivity with downtown Montreal. With service frequency varying between 2.5 and 5 minutes, passengers should be able to travel between the station and downtown in around ten minutes. The station, currently under construction, is located 500 meters from the northeast end of the site.
